Top 10 API Management Platforms for 2021

What are the top 10 Best API Management Platform tools for 2021?

APIs are huge.  2021 was met with a rise in API usage and adoption.  The markets for management platforms and tools have also grown to keep up with the increase in demand.

The Enterprise Storage Forum recently posted their 10 Best API Management Tools and Platforms for 2021 and while some on this list are surprising, the ones missing also draw attention to the changes over the past couple of years.

According to their site, these 10 company's products are the best API management tools for 2021:

Postman - https://www.postman.com/api-network/

Software AG webMethods - https://www.softwareag.com/en_corporate.html

SAP Platform - https://cloudplatform.sap.com/capabilities/mobile/mobile-secure-services.html

IBM Cloud Connect - https://www.ibm.com/cloud/api-connect

AWS CloudTrail - https://aws.amazon.com/cloudtrail/

Apigee Edge - https://cloud.google.com/apigee/

Nevatech Sentinet - https://nevatech.com/sentinet

Mulesoft Anypoint Platform - https://www.mulesoft.com/platform/enterprise-integration

Boomi - https://boomi.com/

Workato - https://www.workato.com/platform

On the list are the big guys we always see in the API Management Market:

  • Google
  • Software AG
  • Mulesoft
  • Amazon
  • IBM
There is also the addition of Postman to this list which is interesting as Postman is making its way into the API Management space.

Boomi is on this list but is more in the Integration space.

One noticeable company missing is Axway.   Axway has had a tough year and has announced the end-of-life for some of the Axway Amplify Platform products that were part of their big acquisitions from the past few years.  It will be interesting to see how they come out in the next few years.

Google's acquisition of Apigee has brought them to the forefront of the API Management race to compete with established vendors such as Software AG and Mulesoft.

Microsoft is another vendor that is noticeably absent from this list.  They have entered the API Management space with some of their recent acquisitions and will, without a doubt, be seen in future lists.
